Seventh Generation Green Roof l Burlington, Vermont
Recipient of Better Buildings by Design Honorable Mention, 2008.
Seventh Generation is committed to providing a healthy workplace for its staff, which includes a roof garden terrace that faces westwards to the adjacent Lake Champlain and Adirondack Mountains. The green roof garden absorbs stormwater runoff and provides a place for employees to socialize, relax, conduct meetings, and revel in the panoramic views of Lake Champlain.
The green slate walkways from southern Vermont and the speckled gray granite terraces from the state’s capital region reflect Seventh Generation’s commitment to local community, bioregionalism, and ecological design. The colorful and fragrant composition of native wildflowers and fruiting plants, including blueberry and strawberry, enliven the space with the bounty of nature. The staff enjoys a variety of group and intimate spaces for taking a break or conducting meetings.
