Seventh Generation Headquarters | Burlington, Vermont
Recipient of Better Buildings by Design Honorable Mention, 2008.
Located on Burlington’s vibrant, reclaimed waterfront, this design was carried out as part of a LEED-CI Gold interior renovation of the headquarters for the largest manufacturer of chemical-free household products in the United States.
Upon arriving in the headquarters lobby, visitors find a living wall planted with vines that filter contaminants and provide connection to the natural world. Visitors and employees stay connected to nature as they enter the reception area embraced by planters of vegetation with textures and patterns that mimic the Vermont landscape.
At the interior ‘heart’ of the headquarters, a circular stainless pool rimmed with a local granite-capped fieldstone wall anchors the central stair corridor. These native stone materials are repeated outdoors, where employees relax and exchange ideas on the colorful, edible and native wildflower green roof terrace garden.
