Urban Stormwater Mitigation l Burlington, Vermont
This collaborative home renovation connects a home built in 1910 to the fabric of its historic city neighborhood, while creating a peaceful sanctuary for the CEO and founder of a company that is a global leader in wind measurement technology. The landscape reflects the owner’s environmental ethic and commitment to renewable energy. Throughout the landscape, permeable surfaces capture storm water and keep it from flowing off site. Water seeps through the soil and becomes a green solution rather than a problem. Also Vermont materials – including local quartzite for the retaining wall and steps, brick for walkways and patios, and nursery stock – were used to reduce fuel consumption and construction-related carbon emissions.
