Mad River Valley Home     Warren, Vermont

This project is currently under construction. A difficult hillside property with unrestrained seasonal stormwater run-off severely cramped the use of the former landscape, which included an overly shaded and deteriorating pool.  The dysfunctional outdoor space is being transformed into a spacious, 3-tiered outdoor room. The family room of the house extends out to the lower tier with a place for grilling/dining and a gathering space around the wood-fueled fire pit. Long graceful bluestone steps lead to the second tier with a new gunite plunge pool and spa oriented to the breath-taking Green Mountain views. The new pool house built into the hillside will anchor the pergola that will mark the entry to the third tier, the Edible Garden. Subtle accent lights tucked under the seat wall stone caps and spaced along the tier walls will provide a restful ambience in the Vermont evenings.
