Sanctuary and Memorial Garden       Charlotte, Vermont

We are currently waiting for our design of the new Sanctuary and Memorial Garden to be constructed in Spring 2025 for the members of the Charlotte Congregational Church and surrounding community. The overall concept is an ellipse defined by a tall mixed evergreen and deciduous hedge that spirals inward to a beautiful, serene place with many peaceful smaller spaces for contemplation or sharing. The spiral is intended to emulate the pattern abundantly found in nature.  At the center will be a circular stone-surfaced space circular space will be a rock sculpture with a sculpted basin for baptisms. The interior periphery of the elliptical path will be dotted with smaller spaces, some very private, for contemplation or intimate conversations. The spiral of native and pollinator gardens will provide a place for interring the ashes of church members who have passed.  The memorial plaque of those interred will be constructed in a quiet space at the beginning of the ellipse garden. The entire garden will be a place of beauty that is well integrated within the overall church campus.
